Iron Maiden Wasted Years Guitar Cover

Hello there, just wanted to quickly share one of my cover attempt of Iron Maiden’s Wasted Year from Somewhere In Time album!

This song is my favourite Maiden song of all times. Really love the positive feelings that it brings 🙂 I always wanted to play it but somehow never had a chance to look into it.

Recently, I have recently started playing the guitar more often and I’m enjoying it as I would do ages ago!

In this video, I used my Fender American Standard Stratocaster which has a maple fingerboard. It was made in 2013 and my favourite Fender colour, Mystic Blue! (Review coming soon!)

I plugged directly into my RME Babyface PRO interface and used a bunch of plugins. You may be surprised but I’m in love with SoftAmp PSA by AXP!

It’s completely free of charge and I must say it’s excellent! True Sansamp tones coming out of this plugin. I also used BTE Audio TS Secret which is a tube screamer VST plugin. My favourite one among the other alternatives. Again, complete free of charge. On top of these plugins, I used the Lexicon PCM Native Effects Reverb plugin as well.

Luckily, I found a backing track by a YouTube channel called Project 2. They released a backing track which allows you to play every guitar partition of Wasted Years! Thanks, Project 2!

So what you are hearing the guitar-wise is me playing the intro riff, rhythm parts and following solo in one take. Then I also played the 2nd guitar for rhythm purposes. Lastly, I applied some automation in Reaper to push the solo volume a bit in your face! 🙂

The video was recorded with a Canon EOS M200 (Kit lens) mirrorless camera. Hope you like it, thanks for your time and keep in touch!
