In this review, you will find out one of the best value for money guitar I have ever seen in my life. Not sure if a lot of people are aware of Godin brand. I believe many of you have bumped into Godin’s Multiac series guitars in which they modernize a nylon string guitar to a highest possible level ever. With this Multiac series guitars, you can actually connect your nylon string guitar to a MIDI device with a 13-pin MIDI cable and trigger digital sounds precisely with your guitar. However, I reckon most people don’t know much about their electric series. Until I had started working for MyDukkan, I had never bumped into a Godin guitar in my life. But I was lucky and I had to chance to have played a couple of Godin Session and a Godin Freeway SA guitar which was incredibly excellent.
But for this review, I will be talking about Godin Session Series electric guitar, both rosewood and maple fingerboard versions. Let’s hear the guitar first, then we’ll talk about the specs. First one is a Lightburst colour with a maple fretboard.
Unfortunately, the sales were not as good as the distributor company had expected for Godin brand. So there were always stock problems. I believe it is also a discontinued model and you won’t be able to find it on Godin’s website. Chances are you will have hard times finding this series, but I have been able to find some on Amazon website, but not available on Thomann 🙁 You can have a look at my customs search ads below.
I hope you are able to hear the guitar even though my sloppy playing. Here are the tech specs for Godin Session series guitars below;
|Body||Canadian Laurentian Basswood|
|Fretboard||Maple or Rosewood|
|Pickups||Godin Custom Humbucker + GS-1 Single Coils|
|Bridge||Godin Tru-Loc Tremolo|
|Controls||1x Push-Pull Tone, 1x Volume, 5-way Switch|
Before I provide you what I feel about this model, let’s hear the rosewood fretboard version. As you can see, the lightning was much worse than the maple fretboard one. Because rosewood one was the first one arrived in our store! So you can have an idea of how good or bad the sales were 🙂 This one is a Cream colour option.
OK, here it is. During those days, I was really into having a proper Strat and quite confused with the options. I spent lots of times on researching Strat clones, Fender American ones, Standard line…etc. However, when I had this guitar in my hands, I was blown away by the craftsmanship and quality. There was not even a tiny problem on the instrument. Everything was perfectly built and ready to play right out of the box. The string action was really low but now really buzzing and choking up the low end, pickups were great.
Also, I must tell you that I was in love with the semi-gloss finish. It was just right in between a glossy finish and a full satin finish. It also comes with a super high-quality gig bag which makes this guitar a STEAL!
If you are into Strats (I believe there used to be 3 single coil versions too) but also looking for alternatives to Fender brand, this is your instrument. I guarantee you will be blown away too! From the day I played this guitar, Godin brand is always in my radar, I think you should always check out what they come up with. They are a very unique brand, check it out for yourself 😉
Thanks for reading and hopefully I’ll be back with more reviews soon!
