Gravity VARI series is a set of cleverly designed, multi-guitar and bass stands. In this article, we will be particularly reviewing the Gravity VARI-G 5 and G-7 models that can hold up to multiple instruments.

But as you can guess, it has even three, seven and nine-instrument versions as well. I will provide a quick comparison table for you to choose your Gravity VARI more easily in this article.

Why Do You Need a Multi-Stand?

Easy question for guitar nerds, right? 🙂 As we all know for sure, there is no such thing as too many guitars! We also know that non-guitarists will never understand the feeling of having more than one guitar! Even though I wanted to keep the number of guitars I would own to a minimum, I have already obtained three and one more is coming!

I remember the moment just before I purchased my Gravity VARI G 5. I was having this conversation with myself, “No, you will not have more than five guitars, the fourth is coming soon. Would I ever get the fifth? Yeah, maybe! Then I need a guitar stand that can hold up to five guitars, so I will be safe for SOME TIME!

Then she says why do you need more than one guitar?
No such thing as too many guitars!

As you can see, the justification for your multi-guitar stand purchase is the easiest of all! 🙂 For this reason, I quickly made up my mind and ordered a Gravity VARI G 5 from Thomann.

Update: Of course, without a long-term update, this article wouldn’t be useful! 🙂 Remember the justification just above? It never ends! Due to my never-ending guitar addiction, I sold my G-5 and got a G-7. However,  currently, I own 6 electric guitars, 1 bass and 1 acoustic! So, it’s still not enough. But I will stop as it has been out of control for my space and budget.

Enter Gravity G-7!
Enter Gravity G-7!

I think having both G-5 and G-7 makes a great statement about these stands. Definitely a trustworthy brand for me! As I didn’t have a lot of photos of the G-5 from the product experience perspective, I’d like to use this opportunity to provide more detailed photos of the G-7.

Gravity VARI G Features

As I have mentioned above, the Gravity VARI G series comes in different sizes. Every VARI G multi-stand is made of steel, ABS plastic, and TPU (three different types of materials are used). They come in smartly designed, slim boxes. I must confess it’s really impressive how they fit everything into these boxes. Putting everything back into the box wasn’t so easy!

Based on the option you go for, you will get the exact same box content, but different base rod length and also the number of guitar neck supports as shown below.

Apart from the size and capacity differences, the box content is identical. You have all the necessary screws, a Gravity-branded mini screwdriver, and a set of black rings (it comes with the green ones, but these black ones are extra). You also have a manual & instruction document to follow along.

As clearly indicated, Gravity stands are made in China, but designed and engineered in Germany. They give us a 5-year guarantee! As you may know, in the EU (and in most places on the planet), you have 2 years of warranty from the manufacturer. Cool companies like Thomann give you an extra year of warranty for an extended 3 years of warranty!

And a few companies like Gravity even give you 5 years of extended warranty, which is really cool. I believe this is a nice bonus for the brand, and I think it might be useful for some people who use these stands on the road.

Assembling your Gravity stand is not that difficult. You just need to make sure you go through the instructions and have received all the necessary screws and parts. As the screws come in isolated nylon bags with clear marks, it’s pretty easy and quick to check whether everything is OK for assembling the product.

If you don’t like spending your time going through documentation and instructions, but instead prefer watching someone doing the actual thing, Gravity has also prepared a video showing us how the assembly goes below.

As you might already understand, Gravity guitar stands come in different sizes or capacities for your beloved guitars. These multi-guitar stands start from 3 and go up to 9, increasing by +2 guitar capacity in every bigger model. So, in order to give you a clear overview for you, I have prepared a quick comparison table. You can have a look and pick up what you need.

Gravity VARI G Series

The first thing to consider before you buy your Gravity VARI G is to determine how many guitars you have or will have in the near future! 🙂 And then, all you need to do is double-check the width parameter, as you need to somehow be able to place them in your room or studio.

Note that the height when folded is pretty short, but please consider that the depth becomes around 45cm when in use. I had a pretty small space available for my stand, just quickly measured it and went straight into buying my Gravity VARI-G 5 from Thomann.

Review

As shown in the official video and based on my experience, the assembly process is pretty easy. I have had zero issues with both G-5 and G-7. Once you are done with the assembly, the only thing you need to adjust is the movable neck supports and align them as you wish based on your guitars.

Every VARI G multi-stand is powder-coated with a soft-touch feel. Last but not least, the bottom rods are coated with a kind of foam to protect your guitars, as you can see in the image below.

Moveable & Detachable Neck Holders

I think the coolest feature of the Gravity VARI G series stands is that you can really move or remove these neck holders. It gives you a lot of freedom in how to arrange your stand for each instrument.

If you need your Gravity G-5 to act like a 3-slot guitar stand, you can remove two of these neck supports, align the rest of the neck supports as you wish, and place your guitars accordingly in a more spaced placement.

As mentioned, it also comes with a screwdriver (with a Gravity brand theme) as well as black rings. By default, you will have these green rings. According to the Gravity company, these are for customising and almost marking these stands for specific use in a live stage environment. But to be honest, I don’t see this feature as a big selling point.

I think the Gravity VARI G series is an excellent product; detachable and movable neck holders are the main selling point of these products. Very well thought out and designed!

A bit of nostalgia, the guitars you see here all gone!
A bit of nostalgia, the guitars you see here are all gone!

As I always mention here in my blog, this is a really good sign of high-value purchases. That means people give this a chance, and they are all satisfied with their Gravity VARI G stands! I definitely recommend this multi-stand without a doubt. If you don’t have enough guitars to fill up VARI G 5 slots, you know what to do! Buy more guitars!! 🙂

As a matter of fact, Gravity G series multi-guitar stands have been very successful on the market. In the guitar & bass stands category on Thomann, Gravity G-5, G-7 and G-9 have managed to rank in the top 25 for a very long time. This also indicates people usually have more than 3 guitars or are willing to stock more guitars in time (just like me!). 🙂
