Hello there, and welcome back to yet another gear review! This time, we will look at a guitar accessory to refresh things a bit on my blog. As guitar players don’t buy non-disposable guitar gear accessories every day, I thought it was the right time to feature this lovely guitar strap here for you.
Table of Contents
In this brief review article, we will check out the Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram strap. Although I didn’t need a spare strap since I already had a couple in my stash, I couldn’t resist adding this to my cart while shopping for my Fender FSR MIJ Hybrid II Stratocaster.
It’s going to be a much shorter review than my usual ones here, but let’s start with a quick introduction to Fender.
About Fender
Founded in Fullerton, California, in 1946 by Leo Fender, the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation has been shaping the sound of modern music for over seven decades. The company exploded into the spotlight with the release of the Broadcaster (soon renamed the Telecaster) in the early 1950s—the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar. Shortly after, the Stratocaster followed in 1954, and both models remain iconic to this day.
Fender has long been synonymous with innovation. Aside from guitars, they were instrumental in developing electric basses, introducing the Precision Bass in 1951 and the Jazz Bass in 1960, completely changing the role of bass guitar in popular music.
Over the years, Fender has expanded into amplifiers, effects pedals, and a wide range of accessories, including guitar strings. Their strings, like the Super 250 series, are designed to complement the tonal characteristics of Fender instruments, making them a popular default for Strat and Tele owners.

Despite changes in ownership over the years, Fender has remained rooted in a spirit of accessibility, innovation, and unmistakable style. From surf rock and blues to punk, pop, and metal, Fender has been there every step of the way, and continues to be a key player for players of all levels.
Apart from Fender’s extensive guitar line, the company also offers a wide range of accessories and gear for guitars.
Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap
The Legacy Monogram Strap is a faithful replica of our most iconic strap design, dating back to Fender’s golden ages. Featuring the “straight signature” logo that has become the envy of collectors worldwide, this case candy classic is one of the most photographed straps in the history of electric guitars.
Featuring steel-riveted leather ends, aged metal hardware, and a modern faux leather backing, this legacy strap is as authentic as it gets.

Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap Review
As I mentioned above, I really didn’t need yet another guitar strap, but since I was going for another Stratocaster, I thought it was the best time to get a proper strap as well.
Unfortunately, Japanese-made Fender Stratocasters don’t come with a full accessory kit. In fact, the box content is the bare minimum! As stated in my Fender FSR MIJ Hybrid II Stratocaster review, the guitar comes with the most basic gig bag and some allen wrenches. That’s it, nothing else!
So I thought I should get a proper strap for my lovely, new Fender Stratocaster! Somehow, I wanted to get an authentic Fender one and narrowed down my options.
Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap comes in nice packaging, as shown below. As mentioned in the tech specs table, it’s made in Canada.

Strangely, this strap is called a “monogram” strap on the internet and even on Fender’s website, but on the box, it’s a “monogrammed” strap.

On the back of the box, the descriptive text that I provided in the beginning can be found.

Here’s a closer shot in case you want to read it yourself!

There’s also the warning section, which typically can be found on many products, as well as the country of origin and the product number. As you can see, the product number (P/N) is 0990650102.
On Fender’s website, you will see a different number under the “Specs” section, called Commodity Code: 9209.94.8000. I think it indicates the information for dealers, as the quantity is stated as 50 pieces there!

The Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap feels like a very high-quality product. This is also backed by the fact that it’s one of the most expensive Fender straps that the company offers. And it’s even more expensive on their official website than on the online music stores such as Thomann.
As you can see below, it features aged, metal hardware. Overall feel of the product is pretty expensive, I would say. It feels heavy and well-built.

As usual, there’s the hanger with the Fender logo. I really like this! I usually keep these to use as accessories in my flat. 😀

On the strap, there’s a tiny information card with brand, model and basic specs information.

As with many Fender products, the company offers free online lessons for guitar, bass and ukulele. To be honest, I have no idea how good these lessons are, as I have never been interested in them.
But I think it’s a really good addition to most of the Fender products as Fender products are preferred by hundreds of thousands, if not millions players all around the world.
These people are mostly beginners, and it’s really cool to have a way to go with lessons from Fender.

Here, on the next shot, you can really see the material used for the strap. To be honest with you, when I first got this without really reading all about it, I thought this was a leather strap.
I think the price tag also made me think this way, but this strap is actually polyester. For sure, there’s nothing wrong with this. But you may also think that it’s not the cheapest strap; therefore, it must not be polyester.

As I mentioned, the Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap feels like a very high-quality strap. It’s obviously a very high-quality product. It has a nice weight and settles on your shoulders without any sign of being cheap and feather-like.
Issues?
I would say this is probably the best strap I have ever tried. But what caught my attention was the particles it left on my guitar! After I used it for a while on my Fender FSR MIJ Hybrid II Stratocaster, I noticed some micro particles on my guitar near the strap ends.
As these pieces are in constant contact with the guitar and these areas would move while I’m wearing the strap, they left some microplastic particles on my guitar.
I think some of the user reviews mention this, too! Considering the price tag, I think it is slightly disappointing. But I would still recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a well-built strap with a vintage look and feel!
I would also like to share that during the summer time, after you wear these for some time, you will feel the heat! 🙂 Not sure if this could be classified as a problem or an issue, but I wanted to share!
If you take a look at the other options, you will see that the Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap is positioned a little bit over the average nylon strap price tag. So, it’s still a good value.
As always, I will be updating all my gear review articles to reflect long-term reviews of the products I feature here. So, I suggest you stick around and sign up for my free newsletter service!
Where to buy Fender Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap?
As always, I got mine from Thomann while ordering my lovely Fender FSR MIJ Hybrid II Stratocaster. If you also do your own research on the price tag, you will find out that the cheapest offer is always on Thomann’s website. Currently, this strap is listed at around 40EUR, while on Fender’s website and Reverb, it’s around 60EUR!
So, it’s up to you where to get this lovely strap! 🙂 Here’s the product page on Thomann below!

You can also have a look at Reverb listings for Legacy Vintage Monogram Strap; there are very few options there with pretty high price tags. But you never know! Maybe there will be more competition on Reverb, and you may get better prices!
