Hello there, welcome back to another guitar string review! This time, we will be looking at one of the most affordable yet solid electric guitar strings, Pyramid electric strings 11-48. In this article, I will briefly introduce you to this wonderful company and provide a short but sweet demo!

My regular visitors are already aware that I have been testing Pyramid strings exclusively in recent months. I believe I have had almost all Pyramid string gauges (not all different series that the brand features) for my electrics and have been using them for a while.

Even though my all-time favourite guitar string brand is Elixir Guitar Strings, I still try different brands and sets and always publish my opinions under my guitar string reviews category. I first started using Pyramid strings around two years ago exclusively for my Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid PT-7 7-string electric guitar, and to be honest, I really love them! Especially if you consider what you pay and what you get in return, it’s the best!

After I tried the 7-string version on my Schecter, I really liked them and already bought many, including 7-strings, 9-42, 10-46 and 11-48, stock up enough for a year or so! 🙂

I’m not really into drop tunings normally. But there are some bands and songs I always want to play and post cover videos here and there. Since I would normally use Elixir 11-49s for this, I also wanted to buy a Pyramid 11-48 set so I could try and maybe post some comparison videos later on.

Pyramid Electric Strings 11-48

Recently, I got myself possibly my favourite guitar (bought for the second time!), Ibanez AR300 (Korea) electric guitar that I used to have, and I normally play these drop-tuned songs on. So I wanted to give it a try and already restrung my Ibanez with Pyramid 11-48 for Drop C songs I want to play! 🙂 What I love about Pyramid strings is that they have been 100% consistent with quality, feel and sound every time! Kudos to their excellent quality assurance! Pyramid 11-48 set features 11-14-18-28-38-48 strings.

I’m sure most people would claim that these gauges are not suitable for standard D and Drop C tunings. However, I find these just right. Maybe the bottom string could be 49, but I don’t feel much of a difference in terms of tension and overall feel.

As with many other Pyramid electric strings, Pyramid 11-48 is also one of the top-selling electric guitar strings despite its unique gauge combination. In the 11-gauge electric guitar strings categoryPyramid 11-48 has the 25th place (as of 2026) among huge guitar string brands! As I always mention, Pyramid strings are pretty standard, and they may get corroded easily. Actually, they are the first uncoated strings that don’t annoy me when corroded quickly, as the price is unbeatable for the quality and lifespan.

If you want to have the spark of a new set of strings because you play/record frequently during a week, I would suggest you change them at least once a week or every two weeks at max.

Sound Demo (no talking)

In order to show you what Pyramid electric strings 011-048 sound like with standard D and Drop C tunings, I have made a quick video. I used my lovely Ibanez AR300 along with an ENGL E570 all-tube preamp, and an ENGL Cabloader going directly into my RME Babyface PRO audio interface.

How did you like the sounds of Pyramid 11-48 strings? I believe they produce a solid guitar sound without even busting the bank.

I recommend Pyramid electric strings 011-048 to anyone who is looking for excellent-sounding yet very affordable strings, all made in Germany. In my opinion, Pyramid Strings is one of the most underestimated and overlooked string brands in the world. They are seriously excellent in quality and possibly provide the best value out of all guitar string brands.

Pricing & Availability

As Pyramid Strings is a German company, it’s usually a lot easier to find their products in German stores such as Thomann or Amazon.de. I always buy my Pyramid Strings from Thomann. I think they offer the best prices for this brand. Mind you, throughout the years, Pyramid Strings have had to increase the price of the strings. So, better to stock them just as I did! This way, you can save a couple of sets when you buy in bulk early! 🙂

Although it’s not always possible to find every single Pyramid String model, Reverb also features dozens of resellers of this brand, which you may want to check out.
